Drunk on Power
Whatever you think about Donald Trump, you have to understand one thing very clearly: he did not get elected on his own. Millions of Americans turned a blind eye to the fact that he was and continues to be woefully unqualified for the job. Millions of Americans decided that this man, now who we know committed rape and fraud. This is a man who so clearly ran perpendicular to anything the Republicans might have claimed in the past. What's different now? It's all about the power. They compromised themselves because power was more important than ethics. Laws, friends, emerged from ethical concerns. Disregard for those laws weakens them, while planting those who disregard the laws in positions of safeguarding the law erodes trust in the system. Our society is little more than a meeting of the minds and agreement that we all respect the rule of law over our personal ambitions. When an entire political party is making this claim, they are chiseling away at our democracy.
