Have you seen the footage of the press “meeting” between Zelensky and Trump? There’s some history here that we should pay attention to, and that you may not know. First, Ukraine are our allies. At least, they were our allies, for very good reasons: we’re the ones who convinced them to come to the table for nuclear disarmament. Nobody talks about that, but consider - would Russia be invading Ukraine right now if they had nukes? Maybe. Maybe not. But one thing is certain - they’d be stepping quite a bit more carefully. I’m not suggesting that the correct way to handle things is to give every nation nukes, but suddenly certain other countries being hesitant to give up theirs starts to seem a lot less like they’re crazytown and makes a lot more sense. But aside from that, there’s the ever present problem of renigging on every single deal that the United States made.
You see, there’s a cohesiveness to the United States, or to any nation, as there should be. Every nation’s leaders should honor the agreements already in place. If not, how can nations even make agreements, especially with democractic nations that change every fixed number of years? Europe is standing by their allies, and I’m sure that Ukraine will be well-served, but any influence we have in the world is being chiseled away every time we turn our backs to another ally. We may be in a sweet spot as the number one economic power today, but will that last? And with the number one military? Not with people like Hegseth running it, no. The facts are, Trumps actions are not only making the United States more unsafe today than yesterday, but also, his actions make the United States more unsafe into the foreseable future. What’s the saying? Oh, yeah…
