Weapons of Mass Destruction

We’re all Marines here. We’ve shot M-16s professionally, and were forced to qualify shooting on the range with at least a marksman. So we know something about weapons. We know about AR-15s too, and yes, we know about what an assault weapon is or isn’t.

What is a practical home use for an assault weapon? None. Zero. Zilch.

But regardless of whether an assault weapon ban can work (spoiler: can and has until the Republicans kneecapped it), there are trigger laws and other laws that can work together to make us more safe. How do we know if they work or don’t? The same way we do with every other gun related metric — we guess. Why? Because the ATF doesn’t report those statistics. It’s against the law. Any database tracking weapons is independent of ATF and thus one must go to several different organizations to determine true statistics.

Also, January 6 hearings. They’re under way, and if you want to get a high-level of what’s been happening, this is the episode for you!
