Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

Donald Trump had dinner with a white supremacist.

Who’s shocked?

Nobody. And you know what else? It won’t effect his polling numbers. We remember when we used to hold our politicians to a higher standard. But what Trump has done in 2016 is shown that the basest (“grab them by…”), most vile (convicted of sexual assault), most untrustworthy (lies 90% of the time) person can do all of the things that he wants, and still get elected president. Now that that cat is out of the bag, the Republicans aren’t sure what, if anything, will be enough for their base to disavow this bloated maggot of a human being.

And so here we are. With politicians afraid of their own shadows, and this need not be said, but also having no backbones, twisting and turning to validate and justify Trump’s words. Remember: this is what power looks like. And what the Republicans are doing is exactly the opposite of truth-to-power, and their lack of integrity is an arrow in the achilles heal of America. Because we can’t be beaten from without, but we sure can be from within.
