Justice (Mostly) Served?

Five million dollars. That’s how much money E. Jean Carroll was awarded by a jury in her civil suit. They stopped just short of calling what Donald J. Trump did to her rape, only on a technicality: she wasn’t watching what he used to penetrate her. That’s right, that’s your former president right there, grabbing women by the…well, you know. But maybe he changed, right? It’s been over twenty years. Perhaps he really has “found god” and decided to treat people with courtesy, respect, and…yeah, right.

The former white house advisor of strategic communication, one Alyssa Farah Griffin, has said that Trump behaved so poorly in the white house that she made certain she was never alone in the room with him. But will it make a difference? Not sure, but the number to watch is 37%, the approval rating that never seems to drop. Any sign of Trump having a moral compass has been long since jettisoned (he lied about the election, orchestrated an attempted insurgency, then there’s the latest ruling), so that number isn’t likely to change. But the wider implication of what might happen in a general election is very much up in the air.
