How to Finance a Nation

Does your household work the same as the national budget? We try to make comparisons for simplicity’s purpose, but no, that’s a different beast. Unless you have the authority to print your own money, there’s little overlap there. But the little that does overlap? That’s hammered on in the media and by any political power that’s trying to cut spending. But it isn’t true. In households, you’re talking about things like blankets, shirts, and other things that need to be done. If you don’t buy a blanket, you could stay warm or use an old one perhaps. If the government doesn’t pay for bridge repair? People may die. Two completely different mentalities are required for running a government versus running a home.

There are other reasons too. Listen for different perspectives on spending. Fair warning, not even Right and Freedom are monolithic on how we feel about spending.
