2025 Confirmation Bias
I’m coming back to the 2025 project, to continue my exercise of examining the hijinks that are happening within Republican party plans. When you read through the 2025 documents, you might be excused for thinking there could be more evidence there. For example, when they say (with regard to the DoD), that the United States should “prioritize the U.S. conventional force planning construct to defeat a Chinese invasion of Taiwan before allocating resources to other missions, such as simultaneously fighting another conflict.” The implication, clearly, is that the United States is not already planning for the possibility of multiple conflicts. Allow me to introduce you to the actual United States military strategy, as per Joseph R. Biden, President of the United States of America. The Rand Institute (yes, that Rand Institute) has even suggested that the cost to be able to fight multiple wars across multiple continents is prohibitively expensive.
The answer? Read the documents I listed above. The answer is, according to both Biden and Rand, is to be prepared to fight multiple wars at once. Biden has chosen to do this through his alliances, to thus distribute the cost and concern among America’s allies. Note that this is also mentioned in Project 2025. Only, in Project 2025, the goal seems to be for the United States to only be a nuclear power divergent to Russia. Don’t take my word for it. Take this quote instead:
Transform NATO so that U.S. allies are capable of fielding the great majority of the conventional forces required to deter Russia while relying on the United States primarily for our nuclear deterrent, and select other capabilities while reducing the U.S. force posture in Europe. - Project 2025
Most of the Project 2025 plan is to reduce the footprint (and influence) of the United States around the world. By the time we finish implementing these policies (outlined in Project 2025), then the United States will be isolated from the world we’ve created, except to become a global arms dealer. This is a position we should never aspire to, yet there it is, deep in Project 2025. They (the Republicans) want us to be the global arms dealer.
Emphasize exportability with U.S. procurements. The record-low FMS sales in 2021 were driven partly by the high costs of converting weapon systems on the back end of production rather than emphasizing exportability in initial capability planning. - Project 2025
And how will they do this? Well, in part, by sneaking around Congress. Don’t take my word for it! Within the documents for Project 2025, there’s this little blurb about ending “informal congressional notification.” Also, they want to force all students in federally-funded schools to require ASVABs for their students. This one is interesting, because there’s also a Republican push to allow Charter Schools (not federally funded) and Private Schools (also not federally funded). This one seems just like a deterrent for students to attend public schools, to me. Also, I’ll need someone to explain this to me:
Eliminate Marxist indoctrination and divisive critical race theory programs and abolish newly established diversity, equity, and inclusion offices and staff. - Project 2025
Soooo much to cover here. The so-called “Marxist” indoctrination of “divisive” critical race theory programs means nothing. There’s no “critical race theory” being pushed in the United States military. What you might not know is that, historically, the United States military has been one of the most diverse organizations in America. Why? Because when you’re fighting a war, you don’t care what your troop’s skin color is…you care that they can fight. If there is a meritocracy anywhere in the United States, it’s in the Unite States arms forces. Stats bear this out. US veterans are notoriously non-partisan. But, even with all that I’ve said above, we find this in Project 2025:
Reverse policies that allow transgender individuals to serve in the military. Gender dysphoria is incompatible with the demands of military service, and the use of public monies for transgender surgeries or to facilitate abortion for servicemembers should be ended. - Project 2025
They don’t bother to explain exactly how Gender Dysphoria is incompatible. In my understanding, even with the technological advantage, military wins often still comes down to a numbers game. And to that end, why would we exclude people from service, regardless of gender identity? We have wars to win. B.S. social wars are not going to win our wars for us, people are. So then there’s this:
Audit all curricula and health policies in DOD schools for military families, remove all inappropriate materials, and reverse inappropriate policies.
This reads to me that, instead of focusing on fighting wars, we’re focusing on restricting education…if we adopt Project 2025. Then there’s this:
Stop using the Army as a test bed for social evolution.
The implication here is that the Army is being used in a nefarious way. The implication is that the only reason we have acceptance of gay military members is because of a test-bed for social evolution. This is not the case. The truth is that the Army, and military in general, have always been more liberal in acceptance policy. Why? Because they’re fighting wars. They don’t care if they have gay people. Why would they? When you’re fighting a war, the only thing you care about is winning. The Army, and United States military in general, focus on this, because without winning, you lose your nation.
The ideas within Project 2025 will only make us weaker. There’s no way that these ideas will make us stronger. Isolationism, transphobia, homophobia…these ideas all make the United States weaker, and our enemies stronger. Project 2025 is the most misguided piece of ideology that has ever existed. Period.
