Too Much is Never Enough

Almost every episode of Right and Freedom, we start out by talking about climate change. You know our views: as humans, we are creating climate change together and we should be solving it together.

On the west coast, unprecedented heat waves are killing people. On the south coast, hurricanes are getting more powerful due to the intake of hot water. On the east coast, this week smoke from the Canadian wildfires made New York look like something out of an apocalyptic movie.

And yet we have representatives in congress right now who just tried to force the white house to undo the renewable energy parts of the infrastructure bill. Why?

They’ll tell you energy security. What’s more secure than cheap, renewable energy made in the United States using methods that can’t be shipped overseas, like solar farms or windmills? Definitely not oil, which is sold on an international market first before being sold in the United States, making us beholden to international market forces with regard to cost.

There’s a way around all of this. We just work together. But let’s be honest with ourselves about at least that part of the problem: a whopping 30+ percentage of United States citizens have trouble swallowing the fact that climate change is even real. These people have swallowed that big lie, hook, line, and sinker. Can you fault them for it? Big Oil has been pushing that lie for a generation.

If you’re reading this then you know by now that climate change is real. What are you going to do about it?
