Fear and Surprise, Surprise and Fear

*Nobody* expects the Spanish Inquisition! - Cardinal Ximinez, Monty Python’s Life of Brian

That little turn of phrase seems jovial nature, but in reality it enshrouds a very dangerous concept in more palatable cloak of comedy. This concept is that the tide changes so quickly when you're talking about the ability of one group of humans to systematically destroy another group of humans based on their beliefs, it can be headspinning.

The reason that this is important is because of what's happening in the United States right now. If you're unsure or unaware of what's going on, or think you know, this is episode for you. You must understand what's happening in the world in which you live because otherwise, like so many at the Spanish Inquisition, you'll find yourself on the receiving end of an Inquisitor's wrath. This is something that we should avoid for ourselves and for our fellow country people.

Of course, I'm not talking about Spanish inquisitors. I'm talking about MAGAs. I'm talking about Trump. I'm talking about the sycophantic Republican elites who follow him around and fan the fires that he starts. And I'm talking about a nation that has shown itself to be at times incapable of controlling our most atavistic impulses. In this podcast episode, Don and Christina get deep on the parallels between MAGA United States and NAZI Germany, and there are many, and the penchant of human nature toward violence.
